The country stopped using the gold standard by Federal decree a long time ago, so our money doesn't even represent gold anymore. It's just a bank note with nothing to back it up except promises that we can keep using it to buy stuff. Of course, with the dollar plummeting, I guess you could say that promise isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

The best part is how easily money is created. It's not printed by the government or anything rational like that. It's just fabricated electronically by banks every time someone takes out a loan, thanks to the fractional reserve system. You're right, it's a precarious system for building wealth, and as soon as people stop borrowing money, the whole system collapses. I guess that's why the government is willing to take away 700 billion dollars from American taxpayers to prop up failing lenders and support their inefficiencies instead of letting them fail as they should.

Say have you noticed the American dollar bill has a pyramid with an eye placed above it?

The American economy is a pyramid scheme. The fact that one can discriminate against such absurdities in a country based on credit, run by credit and all are in essence 'Pyramid' schemes, I find slightly amusing.

The only way America can survive is to keep lending money. The paper is supposed to represent gold but it is only useful as a trading voucher.

Have you ever been into a bank and demanded they hand over the gold that this 'money' paper represents? That is called "anarchy" and breaks down the system.
